The free month

Prove it first. Pay later.
Or don’t.

You shouldn’t pay for something until it’s paid for itself. So here’s the deal.

1

I set it up for you.

Tell me about your business and I’ll build your receptionist by hand. It learns your services, your area and how you like callers handled.

2

It answers for a month.

Every call you can’t get to is picked up, and you get the caller’s details the moment they hang up. Free, for 30 days.

3

You decide.

At the end, we look at what it caught together. If it won you work, carry on. If it didn’t, I switch it off and you owe nothing.

Why it matters

A missed call rarely rings twice.

Most callers don’t leave a message. They ring the next name on the list.

37%

of UK adults would hang up and contact a competitor within a minute.

YouGov for Answer4u, June 2026, 2,046 UK adults
6%

would leave a voicemail. The rest move on, or try email or chat instead.

69%

of Britons wouldn’t answer a call from an unknown number, so calling back later often goes nowhere.

Why I built it

I was missing calls too.

I run The Roof & Render Cleaning Company: roofs, render, gutters and driveways around Newmarket, Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds. Just me. And the phone always seems to ring when I’m on a roof.

47 calls from new numbers went unanswered between April and October 2026.

Not all of them were jobs. Some will have been spam. But even a handful of real enquiries is work that went to someone else. So I built foner, and now it answers my phone when I can’t.

Before I offer it to anyone else, I want to know it makes money for people like you. That’s what the free month is for.

Listen

What your callers hear.

Friendly, calm and to the point. It says it’s your assistant, never pretends to be you, and gets you the details fast.

Hi, you’ve reached Jake’s phone. He’s out on a job, I’m his assistant. How can I help?
Hi, I’d like a quote to get my roof cleaned. It’s gone green with moss.
No problem. What’s the house number and postcode?
It’s 14, CB8 7AB.
Thanks. And your name, please?
Sarah Collins.
Is the number you’re calling from the best one to reach you on?
Yes, that’s fine.
Lovely. I’ll pass this to Jake now and he’ll be in touch about your quote.

How it works

Your phone rings first.

foner only picks up the calls you’d have missed. Nothing changes for your customers, except they get an answer.

1

A customer rings you.

Same number they’ve always used. Answer as normal if you can.

2

You can’t get to it.

The call forwards to foner. One short code like **61* on your mobile sets it up.

3

You get the details.

Name, number, address and what they need, in your inbox the moment they hang up.

FAQs

Questions? Answers.

Is the month really free?

Yes. No card details, no contract and nothing to cancel. If foner hasn’t brought you work by the end of the month, I switch it off and that’s it.

What happens after the free month?

We look at the calls it caught together. If it’s paying for itself, we agree a simple monthly price before anything is charged. If not, you walk away.

Can I keep my number?

Yes. Your phone rings as normal. If you don’t answer, the call forwards to your foner number, so customers keep dialling the number they already know. Turning it off is one short code.

Will callers know it’s AI?

It introduces itself as your assistant, and if anyone asks whether it’s AI, it tells them.

Does it give prices or book jobs?

No. It never quotes prices or confirms bookings you haven’t agreed. It takes the caller’s details and what they need, so you can get back to them.

Who is it for?

UK trades and small service businesses: roofers, plumbers, electricians, cleaners and anyone who can’t always get to the phone.
